Top 3 video games about wine

Wine plays a significant role in video games – and there’s plenty of in-game evidence of that.

Hundred Days (2021)

This game is about vision. It offers a true overview of winemaking and grape growing techniques, including grape plucking, in which unproductive vine shoots are cut off. The gameplay allows the gamer to revive an ersatz winery in Italy.

The gameplay is that the player is invited to participate in every step of the winemaking process, from selecting grape varieties to plant to harvesting, ageing and bottling the wine. The gamer also creates his own labels for the bottles, checks the bunches of grapes for diseases and receives points for his wines. The gameplay is impressively calm, yet the game is as detailed as possible.

Plinko & Drinko

It’s the only one on our list that isn’t a video game. It’s actually a popular bar attraction that combines drinking alcohol with a game of Plinko. This entertainment option also has a virtual counterpart. But in this case, as you realize, you can no longer drink. However, many Plinko games, like themselves, have a low threshold of entry and simple but still exciting gameplay. Many of these games are gambling games and can be found at many online casinos.

As an example, Plinko Games is a site that describes operators with Plinko games and leads the search engine. If you study this list, you will find many really well-known international online casinos with a license and a good reputation. And in many of these casinos, Plinko games are on the list of the most popular ones.

Resident Evil Village (2021)

It would seem a rather unusual choice when it comes to “wine” games. But in fact, Lady Demitrescu, the game’s main antagonist, has a luxurious wine room that the protagonist stumbles upon while wandering around the castle.

This room has a wooden tasting table, a chandelier, shelves of bottles, all the essentials, and an exit cellar with wine barrels. But the word “wine” is a bit misplaced here. These barrels and bottles are filled with more than just grape juice. The best cuvée of the estate is Sanguis Virginis. At one point in the game, the player places a bottle of this wine in a silver decantator to open a secret door. And yes – Lady Dimitrescu’s bloody wine deservedly defends its right to claim the title of “most disgusting thing” in Resident Evil Village. The players liked it so much that this title was the fastest in the history of the franchise to break the mark of 10 million copies sold.

The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine (2016)

This is not a standalone game but an add-on to The Wild Hunt. But there is indeed a lot of wine here, as Geralt from Rivia finds himself in Toussaint, which is essentially France, and the very essence of France is wine.

During the journey, Geralt gets very familiar with the local wine industry, including vineyards with names that may seem a bit familiar to real-world wine lovers.

At the end of the game, Geralt gets his own winemaking estate, Corvo Bianco, in the Sansretour Valley (a sub-region of Toussaint, which itself is a famous wine region in the Witcher world). Unfortunately, the previous owners left the winery in disrepair, but the player can restore it if they wish. And, of course, a special place in the DLC is occupied by the “Wine Wars” series of quests.
